This pickup is a big ol’ beast, and it’s a beast to steer, too. Like the diesel, the gas Titan XD uses a recirculating ball steering mechanism, which is supposed to be more robust than a rack and pinion setup, but to the driver all it means is that this truck has super heavy steering. It’s hard to maneuver around tight spaces, and good luck getting around a tight 90-degree corner without backing up a few times. Thankfully the Titan has Nissan’s Around-View monitor and cameras in front, so you can sort of see where the wheels are going.

Even without that, the Titan is still a beast. I needed a rope ladder to get in; this truck could use some step bars to make it easier on us “less spry” buyers. However, the step bars probably decrease the clearance. The interior seems reasonably clean and buttoned up. The Nissan’s radio setup always works flawlessly. The AC is freezing cold — it was about 90 degrees F when I left work yesterday — and there are a lot of spaces for stuff. A big stalk changes the gears from the steering column, leaving even more room front and center.
